E. Molins

Elies Molins, PhD in Physics, CSIC Research Professor, now head of the Department of Crystallography of the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB). His current research interests focus on one hand in the preparation of multicomponent crystals and related issues (intermolecular interactions, polymorphism, structure-property) and on the other hand, the preparation of porous materials (aerogels and cryogels) for different applications: catalysis (hydrogen production, carbon dioxide conversion, electrocatalysis, etc..) thermal insulation, or self-healing materials. With two of them on-going, he has directed ten doctoral theses, published over 400 scientific papers (cited more than 6000 times) and 14 patents. He worked for several companies: Air Products, Hewlett Packard and several pharmaceutical companies. He is also interested in popular science, technological applications and transfer of knowledge to the company and the active participation of scientists in society, currently chairing the Association of Research Staff of the CSIC and a member of the executive committee of the World Federation of Scientific Workers.
